This is Your Work-Life Balance

No, I’m not here to give you advice on how to achieve a work-life balance. What I’d like you to do is rethink the way you view work.

There is a popular quote which goes something like ‘Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’ I had to ask myself one day, what is wrong with work? Why are we so afraid of the thing?

Instead of running helter skelter looking for work-life balance, we need to see that work is part of a healthy life because it’s about service to others. Balance should be sought in the realm of how much am I giving to life vs how much am I receiving from life.

“Work is a gift, it is how we serve one another”

The work other’s do is beneficial to us (e.g for me, restaurants, transport, government etc) Seeing work, not necessarily as something to love, but as something to serve others helps us to just do it and perhaps we might grow to love it. The important thing is, someone else gets to benefit.
